Job description:

We are looking for a VoIP Phone Technician to join our team, responsible for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of VoIP phone systems and their associated infrastructure. This role demands a combination of networking expertise, advanced troubleshooting skills, and hands-on installation experience. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to ensuring high-quality voice communications, system reliability, and optimal network performance for our clients.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Installation & Configuration:

    • Deploy and configure VoIP phone systems, including PBX, SIP trunks, and handsets.
    • Set up call routing, voicemail services, IVR systems, and extensions tailored to client specifications.
    • Integrate VoIP systems seamlessly with existing network infrastructures.
  • Troubleshooting & Maintenance:

    • Diagnose and resolve VoIP-related issues such as call quality, latency, and connectivity challenges.
    • Execute firmware updates, security patches, and routine system maintenance.
    • Monitor system performance continuously and implement optimizations for improved call quality.
  • Network & Security:

    • Configure firewalls, QoS settings, and VLANs to prioritize VoIP traffic effectively.
    • Secure VoIP systems against potential threats such as SIP attacks and toll fraud.
    • Collaborate with IT teams to ensure network stability and reliability for VoIP services.
  • Customer Support & Documentation:

    • Provide technical support to end users, addressing VoIP-related inquiries and training them on system functionalities.
    • Document configurations, troubleshooting procedures, and best practices for future reference.
    • Coordinate with vendors and service providers for troubleshooting and system enhancements.
  • Additional Responsibilities:
    • Conduct on-site and remote service calls to resolve VoIP-related technical issues.
    • Educate customers on system usage and provide ongoing support as required.
    • Maintain accurate technical documentation and update service logs in ticketing systems.
    • Assist with IT infrastructure setup, including structured cabling and network optimization.
    • Terminate and test Cat6, coax, and other types of wiring in new and existing buildings.
    • Mount and install TVs, monitors, and keyboard systems, ensuring all equipment is secure and aligned.
    • Set up server racks to ensure the network and telecommunications infrastructure operates efficiently.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Technical Skills:

    • Proficient understanding of VoIP protocols (SIP, RTP, SRTP).
    • Experience with VoIP platforms such as Asterisk, FreePBX, 3CX, Cisco Call Manager, Avaya, or Mitel.
    • Knowledge of networking principles, including TCP/IP, VLANs, QoS, NAT, and firewall configurations.
