Warehouse Operations Role:
Warehouse Operations plays a crucial role in Cardinal Health by overseeing materials handling and product distribution within a distribution or manufacturing environment. This encompasses warehousing and fulfillment of materials and products, along with transportation, inventory management, and planning related to demand, supply, and manufacturing processes.
Warehouse Operations is responsible for executing a range of manual or automated tasks required for the effective receipt, storage, and shipment of products. This includes functions such as receiving, picking, packing, shipping, staging, transporting, storage, and delivery, ensuring an efficient flow of products from vendor receipt to shipment compliant with prescribed service standards for various internal and external customers.
Position Summary:
The Associate II, Warehouse Operations supports Inbound or Outbound activities as directed by the Warehouse Supervisor, adhering to quality, safety, productivity, and operational standards. Responsibilities include receiving products in the Inbound section and shipping products in the Outbound section.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adhere to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to process orders, including accurately picking, performing quality control checks, sorting, consolidating freight, building and wrapping pallets, packing, loading, and preparing orders for shipment.
- Utilize material handling equipment to pick large-case items or manually pick smaller units and place them on designated carts.
- Engage in cross-training across multiple warehouse areas and participate in projects as needed.
- Leverage the Warehouse Management System (WMS) to process incoming and outgoing products.
- Operate material handling equipment, which may include order pickers, forklifts, reach trucks, turret trucks, pallet jacks, and walkie riders, as required.
- Perform housekeeping and inventory control tasks, maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
- Address routine assignments involving problem resolution.
- Participate in associate meetings and communicate any concerns to management.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and adhere to all organizational policies, rules, regulations, and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Ability to frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
- Capability to bend, reach, stoop, lift, and stand for the entirety of a shift.
- Comfort with working at heights of 20-30 feet regularly.
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent experience preferred.
- Prior experience with material handling equipment (PIT) is an advantage.
- Experience with radio frequency (RF) scanners and/or voice-to-pick systems is highly preferred.
- Ability to work overtime on short notice.
- Capacity to follow directions and adjust priorities while working independently or collaboratively as part of a team.
- Aptitude to operate in a fast-paced warehouse environment while consistently meeting performance standards.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Willingness to learn and rotate through various warehouse areas.
- Commitment to following site safety regulations and wearing required personal protective equipment, such as steel-toed safety shoes and safety harnesses for material handling equipment. Compliance with Cardinal Health’s Environmental Health & Safety and Quality Risk Assessment policies is essential.
