We are seeking a skilled Wire Harness Engineer to design automotive-grade wire harnesses and collaborate with engineering teams and harness suppliers to procure high-quality materials. In this role, you will lead the design of wire harness and electrical distribution systems in alignment with program milestones and tasks. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise, exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, and the capability to work independently or collaboratively in prototype development. Responsibilities include collaborating with design engineers to troubleshoot issues, documenting processes, and implementing clear plans on our assembly lines and testing configurations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design and Development: Oversee the design and development of hardware systems, including routing and retention of harnesses, cables, and connectors, ensuring ease of assembly, serviceability, and robust functionality across various environmental conditions.
- Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Utilize hands-on experience to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues, such as water ingress and wire routing discrepancies.
- Bill of Materials (BOM) & Specifications Development: Create and maintain BOMs, GD&T standards, and material specifications in alignment with design requirements and manufacturability.
- CAD Creation and Management: Develop 3D models, assemblies, and 2D drawings using SolidWorks and CATIA for components including battery mounting structures, driveline structures, power electronics, and high/low voltage harnesses.
- BOM Management and Alignment: Ensure BOM accuracy through regular reviews, maintaining consistency between CAD data and BOM throughout the design process.
- Establishment of Drafting Standards: Define and implement consistent drafting standards, CAD modeling techniques, and dimensioning practices to ensure high-quality design documentation.
- OEM and Supplier Collaboration: liaise with OEMs and suppliers to facilitate the transfer of CAD data, ensuring compatibility and project alignment.
- Design Reviews & Technical Support: Actively engage in design reviews, providing technical guidance to ensure designs adhere to performance, manufacturability, and quality standards.
- Development of Test Methods & Validation: Create technical specifications, design rules, test methods, validation strategies, and acceptance criteria to ensure designs meet performance and safety standards.
- Issue Resolution and On-Site Support: Lead efforts to resolve design, manufacturing, and supplier quality issues, providing on-site build support as necessary for timely implementation.
- System Integration & Interface: Design and develop technical requirements for system interfaces, ensuring effective communication between subsystems.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure successful program delivery.
- Field Issue Resolution & Lessons Learned: Address field issues and integrate lessons learned into the design process to enhance product reliability.
- Advocacy for Engineering Discipline: Champion engineering rigor across the organization, promoting best practices in design, testing, and validation.
- Vendor and Partner Collaboration: Work with vendors and partners to evaluate and incorporate new components into the powertrain system, ensuring compatibility with Motiv’s systems.
- Next-Generation Technology Development: Contribute to the development of innovative technologies in the heavy-duty electric vehicle sector, prioritizing performance and sustainability.

- Experience in wiring harness design and Bill of Material management systems.
- Comprehensive understanding of automotive product development systems and design disciplines.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to work flexibly in factory environments, including wearing PPE.
- Capability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
Salary Range:
- $90,000.00 – $115,000.00 (Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Individual compensation is influenced by work location and other factors, including job-related skills, experience, and education.)
