JOB OVERVIEW

The Night Supervisor is tasked with overseeing the health and well-being of our residents while providing leadership and hands-on support for resident care and services. Key responsibilities include promoting resident well-being, assisting in medication administration training and monitoring, liaising with resident support services and families, ensuring the consistent documentation of quality care in alignment with each resident’s Service Plan, and upholding clinical quality in accordance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, as well as Sunrise Senior Living policies. The ultimate goal is to champion the quality of life for all seniors.

RESPONSIBILITIES & QUALIFICATIONS

Coordination of Health Needs

  • Identify ongoing care and service needs to promote optimal resident outcomes.
  • Ensure timely evaluation and documentation for residents experiencing changes in condition.
  • Monitor and assess residents following any incidents, documenting and reporting as necessary.
  • Maintain thorough documentation in the resident’s electronic health record.
  • Collaborate with the neighborhood coordinator to communicate with families regarding assessed needs and wellness visit outcomes.
  • Contact the resident’s attending physician as necessary and upon family request.
  • Maintain wellness files in compliance with Sunrise policies and applicable regulations.
  • Provide clinical support to community team members as needed.

Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance

  • Pursue excellence in care quality and service delivery.
  • Understand and demonstrate knowledge of key quality improvement areas and regulatory requirements.
  • Actively participate in Sunrise Quality Assurance and Clinical Meetings.
  • Assist in preparing for regulatory surveys and review physician reports as needed.
  • Order medications and equipment as directed.
  • Ensure compliance with best practices related to resident care.

Medication Programs

  • Regularly monitor residents’ medication and treatment profiles for accurate administration and documentation.
  • Promptly transcribe and update physician orders in the electronic health record.
  • Adhere to the Six Rights of Medication Pass to ensure safe practices.
  • Liaise with pharmacy services to ensure effective resident care.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in medication-related areas.

Resident Care

  • Respond promptly to requests from residents, family members, and visitors.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all resident information.
  • Document changes in residents’ conditions appropriately and update service plans as required.
  • Manage staffing during assigned shifts, including attendance and coverage of open shifts.
  • Ensure that care managers understand their roles and responsibilities for the shift.
  • Strategically respond to calls for assistance and monitor resident safety.

Risk Management and Safety

  • Collaborate with the community team to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Adhere to safety procedures including the appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Infection Control

  • Understand and implement the Sunrise Infection Control & Prevention Program.
  • Train team members in infection control practices as outlined.

Training and Contributing to Team Success

  • Actively participate as a team member and support onboarding for new staff.
  • Uphold the Team Member Credo in daily interactions.
  • Participate in engagement programs and maintain compliance with required training.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
  • Hold a current state/provincial license as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse/Licensed Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN).
  • Possess a minimum of one year of experience in a relevant healthcare setting.
  • Display knowledge of nursing practices pertinent to elder care.
  • Understand relevant regulatory frameworks.
  • Demonstrate competency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Sunrise applications.
