Activity Aide
Part-Time | Day Shift from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM
Required to work from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM once a month.
Pay rate: $12.50/hour

As an Activity Aide, you will assist the Activity Director and other staff in the implementation and evaluation of activity programs in compliance with federal, state, and local standards, as well as our established policies and procedures. Your role will ensure that the spiritual development, emotional, recreational, and social needs of residents are met on an individual basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in implementing and evaluating activity programs within the facility.
  • Identify and address the spiritual, social, recreational, and emotional needs of residents.
  • Participate in regular orientation and in-service training related to residents’ social, emotional, and recreational needs.
  • Complete documentation tools, such as daily attendance and program evaluation forms, as needed.
  • Involve family members in planning activities whenever possible.
  • Assist in transporting residents for outings and to other facilities as necessary.
  • Provide residents with information regarding available activity programs.
  • Encourage engagement in hobbies, crafts, and group social activities.
  • Gather information about residents’ backgrounds to enhance activity relevance.
  • Foster a warm, personal, and positive atmosphere while maintaining a calm environment.
  • Support the maintenance of the activity schedule, including available projects and resources.
  • Uphold the confidentiality of all pertinent care information to protect residents’ rights.
  • Collaborate with other departments to coordinate activities as needed.
  • Conduct routine visits to residents, offering assistance with crafts and projects as necessary.
  • Facilitate all scheduled activities while being attentive to any changes in residents’ conditions, reporting to the charge nurse immediately.
  • Encourage participation in religious activities through services, reading materials, and interactions with the chaplain.
  • Provide support to bed-bound residents through visits, letter writing, running errands, and making appointments.
  • Report any allegations of abuse or neglect to appropriate organizational leadership.
  • Notify relevant managers or supervisors of hazardous incidents, including injuries and equipment issues.
  • Implement and adhere to disaster plans during emergencies.

Requirements:

  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • Current State of Ohio STNA certification is preferred but not required.
  • One to two years of experience in a long-term care setting is preferred.
  • Familiarity with basic computer skills and the ability to learn new software applications as required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the capacity to interact effectively with senior executives, managers, supervisors, direct care staff, residents, families, and physicians.
  • Ability to understand directions and respond promptly to inquiries.
